Day 3: Ai-Ais Continued

After a restless night of sleep listening to the hum of an aircon we decided to go hiking (and hiking we did). I did three different hikes throughout the day.

Hike one was an existing trail leading into a valley between the mountains right behind the old amphitheater. It is quite amazing to realize just how alone and desolate you are after only hiking for 7km's. Sadly I forgot my phone for this hike and couldn't take any pictures, but believe me the views and silence is amazing.

The next hike I wanted to climb all the smaller mountains/hills around Ai-Ais, but no-one wanted to join me so I did them all alone.

After this hike we decided another indoor hot springs session is in order, but upon returning the bloody baboons decided to zip open our tents and for some reason they decided to overturn all our bags and confiscate our Rennies.

My wife and I went for an afternoon walk into the fish river. This is quite nice and I would advise everyone to do it. Its an easy walk across the dam wall and deep into the valley. There is a certain pleasure in the realization of your insignificance against the backdrop of such an enormous canyon.

That night we were treated with more loud TV and aircon from our glamping neighbors.

What I liked

* The surrounding beauty.
* There is a lot to keep you busy.
* The hot-springs.
* If we had better neighbors, the silence.
* The roads are well maintained.
* The shop and restaurant tends to all your basic supply needs.

What I disliked

* The facilities were in a bad state.
* The bloody baboons.
* Our neighbors.
